Sexual Health & Compatibility in Marriage

And if it is breached, and then builds within the relationship, emotions can eventually explode if the situation is not adequately addressed. The most serious cases involve extramarital affairs on one or both sides, and can result in a consultation with a divorce lawyer.

Reputable studies have claimed cheating as present in 55 percent of divorce cases. These affairs are often nothing more than the end result of a pattern of behaviors often present by one or both parties. And some of the problems do not start out as what would normally be considered abnormal behavior, but can be telling signals of problems to come. In fact, studies show the more frequently a person watches X-Rated movies or other pornographic materials, the more likely they are to engage in an affair outside of marriage.

When considering the results of this study, research, published by the Psychology of Popular Media Culture, found that watching pornographic materials encouraged the notion that cheating is an acceptable behavior – specifically as “normative and rewarding.”

Also, the widespread use of erectile dysfunction medications such as Viagra have also been shown to correlate with divorces in Illinois and across the nation. An article published by USA Today claimed that erectile dysfunction medication was brought up by at least one party in 15 out of every 20 divorces. Use of Viagra and medications like it – even for a legitimate medical reason – can have adverse emotional and psychological effects on both partners. The increased sex drive the medication causes can create tension and pressure on the relationship. When this increased drive is not mutual, extramarital affairs can follow.

The sexual health of your marriage is paramount to marital success. If you are a victim of extramarital affair, or require other family law services in the Chicago, Illinois area, contact the Law Office of Matthew M. Williams, P.C. today for expert service and unmatched professionalism.
