Practicing in DuPage, Kane and Kendall Counties.

I am an experienced Illinois divorce and family law attorney as well as being trained in the collaborative approach to resolution.  I practice in DuPage, Kendall and Kane Counties.  For nearly a decade, I have focused entirely on divorce, paternity (parentage), establishment and modification of support, parental rights, support enforcement and other family law related matters.  I have litigated numerous divorce and parentage matters and know how to litigate yours.  More importantly than that, I focus on keeping your case out of the courthouse as much as possible.  That helps keep costs down and can actually expedite many cases.

I have an undergraduate degree in psychology with 5 years’ experience working with abused children and adolescents with severe psychiatric and emotional disorders.  Prior to my work as an outreach specialist and child care worker I worked with Alzheimer’s & dementia residents in long term care.  My experience in psychology has taught me how to work with people effectively and provides me with insight that will be helpful to your case.

By combining my training and experience in psychology with my legal education, training and experience in divorce and family law, I am not only sensitive to the emotional impact divorce can have on you, but skilled at protecting your interests, obtaining positive results, and preparing you for your life after divorce.

Being both a seasoned divorce litigation attorney and trained collaborative lawyer I know how to best serve you, and do it proficiently.  I have no hesitancy about taking whatever steps are necessary to protect your rights, but more importantly, I know how to resolve your issues and enforce your rights WITHOUT having to litigate.  Negotiating as opposed to litigating generally maximizes your position and minimizes your costs.  My client’s have ranged from those holding major nationwide corporations to those with great economic challenges.  Whatever your position in life, I know I can help you through.

Divorce and Family Law issues are some of the most critical and life changing events you will ever experience.  You don’t have to do it alone. You need a family law attorney who will listen, stand by your side, protect your rights, explain the divorce process to you, and help you through these difficult times. I personally handle ALL of my client’s divorce, parentage and domestic relations matters. Retaining my firm to represent you during your divorce case means you retain me, not some associate fresh out of law school. When you call my firm you speak directly with me—every time. I personally handle all your problems beginning with the initial phone call and continuing through entry of Judgment.

While I focus on divorce and domestic relations matters in the Western Chicago Suburbs, the information here applies to any County in Illinois; however, each county has its own special quirks and you should seek representation from an attorney that practices in your specific county.

While this site provides an abundance of information on divorce, paternity (parentage), custody, and other family law and domestic relations issues nothing on this site is intended or provided as legal advice.  The divorce and family law information provided on this page is informational only.  No attorney-client relationship has been formed and I DO NOT represent you in any manner.  The facts and circumstances of every divorce case vary significantly and to know your specific rights or receive advice on your specific case, please schedule a no-obligation consultation with divorce attorney Matthew M. Williams.

Divorce and family law issues are ever evolving.  To keep as current as possible on new domestic relations legislation and case law, this web-site is constantly undergoing re-design and internal work.  Please forgive any inconvenience.
